Chicken Chop Suey

Two of the most popular Chinese dishes which are savored all around the globe are chow mein and chop suey. And both are different from each other. Chow mein is stir-fried noodles which include adding cooked noodles to the cooking sauces, vegetables, and meat Chop suey, on the other hand, is an American-Chinese cuisine where the mixture of cooked vegetables and meat along with the sauces is served over already fried noodles.

Chopsuey is a simple, elegant, healthy family-friendly dish including lots of vegetable and nutrients and absolutely low fat.

Chicken Chop Suey

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cabbage finely sliced long
  • 1 small carrot thin long sliced
  • 1 medium sized onion and capsicum long sliced
  • 1 chopped babycorn
  • Garlic clove one small bowl finely chopped
  • 6 tablespoon schezwan sauce
  • Boiled Chicken chopped into small pieces
  • Sunflower Oil
  • 3 cups water
  • Spring onion minutely chopped

Instructions

Cooking the Noodles

  • Boil enough water in a pan for the noodles to dip. Add 1 tablespoon salt
  • Break the noodles into half and add them to the boiling water. Add 1 tablespoon oil to avoid stickiness
  • Boil for 2-3 minutes
  • Strain out the water and dry the noodles as much as possible so that it fries well.
  • Add 1 tablespoon oil evenly over the noodles to avoid clogging.
  • Add 2 tablespoon oil to a pan and heat it moderately.
  • Pan-fry the noodles until golden. You have to stir it often to make sure it is evenly crisp. Flip it on the other side as well.
  • Once fried, place it in a bowl and keep it aside.

Time for Chopsuey

  • Again take some oil in a pan, and add all the vegetables along with the garlic clove and fry it
  • Add salt to taste
  • Add the chopped chicken as well and fry it
  • Add 2 cups water
  • Now add the schezwan sauce to it and stir it.
  • Cook it for 3 minutes
  • Now take 3 tablespoon cornflour and ½ cup water in a bowl and mix it thoroughly to avoid lumps.
  • Add the slurry evenly to the cooked vegetables to thicken them.
  • Cook for 5 more min
  • The chop suey is  now ready

Chicken chop suey

  • Add the hot chop suey to the bowl of noodles
  • Add minutely chopped spring onion for garnish
  • Your chicken chop suey is ready

Some tips for you

  • Boiling the noodles is an important step. You should add enough oil to avoid stickiness
  • Don’t cook at the high flame as the noodles will tend to stick at the bottom
  • When you make the slurry make sure it is not too thick
  • Serve and eat hot to enjoy the crispiness
